In response to the breakdown of law and order throughout Albania at the beginning of 1997, the Permanent Council decided to establish an OSCE "Presence" in Albania on 27 March 1997.

 

OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media (ORFM)

Freedom of expression, and its corollary, freedom of the media, are among the most basic human rights. In order to ensure a high level of commitment with the norms and standards accepted by OSCE participating States, the position of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media was established in December 1997.

 

OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje

Established in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, this is the longest serving OSCE mission.
